FAIA publishes the fourth AI Landscape - the Finnish AI ecosystem is growing

Finland’s Artificial Intelligence Accelerator FAIA publishes a curated list of domestic AI companies twice a year. The fourth edition of AI Landscape offers an overview of the most prominent AI companies in Finland, covering 41 companies in total including 12 newcomers. As enablers behind FAIA’s operations, Silo.AI and Technology Industries of Finland are together contributing to the curation of the AI Landscape.

The AI Landscape aims to provide a comprehensive summary of top artificial intelligence companies in Finland. The fourth edition includes 41 AI companies from a total of 300 companies that applied, covering AI product companies, AI-enabler companies, and AI consultancies with at least half of their turnover generated from strategic AI consultancy or AI solution consultancy. The selection criteria is further outlined on FAIA’s website.

The AI supply market develops fast as can be seen in the newest version of AI Landscape with 12 new companies added. 

– The landscape is meant to increase awareness of AI companies, making it easier to attract both investment and talent as well as provide a trusted list of companies offering AI products and services. It is great to see an increasing number of product companies make it to the list, but also to notice that companies are showing stellar growth: the median turnover of the companies is now 1,8 million euros with close to 40 percent of the turnover coming from international clients. The 41 companies employ nearly 700 people and, if things go as planned, over a thousand people by the end of 2020. The Finnish AI ecosystem is evolving and getting more mature, says Alexander Törnroth, Silo.AI’s Ecosystem Lead, in charge of FAIA operations.

FAIA, one of the key actions within the Finnish AI strategy, is co-led by the Finnish Technology Industries and Silo.AI, and supported by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Silo.AI joined forces with Technology Industries of Finland earlier this year, with the goal of supporting the Finnish AI ecosystem through FAIA, enabling more investments and AI-driven solutions in Finland.
